Order a Winning Menu at La Famiglia, New Jersey

The first weekend in February is one of the busiest weekends for parties of the year – the weekend of the ‘Big Game.’ More pizza is consumed on Super Bowl Sunday than on any other day of the year. While driving down Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell, New Jersey, you will pass many types of businesses and places to eat. Situated among the businesses on the street, you could easily mistake La Famiglia for only a pizza shop, but once inside, you realize that it so much more. The dining room is cozy and a lovely spot to enjoy a dinner for two. Chef/Owner Hugo, knows the dishes and recipes that will get your taste buds excited!

La Famiglia opened on March 13, 2014, with a quaint dining room and a large menu. You’ll be attended by a friendly server and as you look over the selections, you can see that the man in the kitchen is a master chef. Whether it is a classic pasta dish such as penne vodka or Chef Hugo’s double cut pork chops giambotta, the flavors and aroma jump out at you. This is a chef who loves what he does. His passion for cooking is evident in his wonderfully constructed specials and dish presentations.

Bring a bottle of your favorite Italian wine and begin your meal with some fried calamari, mussels or clams. Now that the winter weather is here, make sure to order the escarole and beans – it is second to none! The sundried tomatoes and broccoli rabe are a delight, but it is tough to beat the sautéed hot peppers with fried potato chips for an appetizer. What a combination of textures and flavors! Ask the Chef for a recommendation and Hugo will likely suggest his Chicken Savoy prepared in the traditional style. If you are in the mood for seafood, a specialty of the house is pan seared tuna, a dish served over fresh pappardelle pasta topped with a creamy pesto sauce. No matter what you select, you will be delighted with your meal and delighted by the prices. Excellent food at reasonable prices is a winning combination for everyone.

At the pizza oven, Jonathan combines a symphony of ingredients to create almost two dozen different specialty pizzas. There is also a gluten-free one available. Most pizzas can be ordered as a personal 10” pizza; a medium 14”or a large 16” one. Make sure to order plenty if you are hosting a party.

La Famiglia is great for lunch, as well. With a steam table from Monday to Friday, you can be in and out for a most delicious and quick mid-day meal. All traditional hot sandwiches are there and also available are wraps, calzones and stuffed rolls. At La Famiglia, there is no need for a special children’s menu. With their extensive menu, there are plenty of choices that the kids will love.
