It takes fast feet to win the Annual Grape Stomp Contest, one of the events at the 41st Houston Italian Festival.

For anyone heading to Texas, the 41st Houston Italian Festival is set to begin on Thursday, October 10 and continues through October 13th on the grounds of the University of St. Thomas. There will be live entertainment, dozens of exhibitions, crafts, wine tastings, Italian beer tastings, food and plenty of events.

Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13, features the Annual Grape Stomp Contest, to see which team has the fastest (or biggest) feet. Saturday will also feature the Bocce Tournament with an Italian atmosphere filled with fun and excitement. On Saturday and Sunday, twelve hungry volunteers will test their skills at speed eating in the Pasta Eating Contest.

Music this year includes DJ Italia, Anthony Porcarello and his son, Anthony Porcarello, Jr., two of the Houston’s finest DJ’s; The Shades of Gray Band, playing a variety of blues, classic rock, country and original music; Vince King, a multi-award winning Elvis Tribute Artist and The Fab 5, who play British Invasion/Party Rock music of the 1960s. Also performing will be the Tarantella Dancers of Galveston who have been at the Houston Italian Festival for over 25 years and singers from the University of Houston’s Moores Opera Center.
