This year marks the 28th Annual Columbus Day Parade and Festival of Ocean County. The Parade will be held on Sunday, October 13th on the Boulevard in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, beginning at 1:00pm. “The Parade has become one of the most iconic in the State of New Jersey and is the highlight of the three-day Italian Festival,” stated Parade Chairman Michael Blandina. “We work hard to ensure that each Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival is even better than in years before. The 28th Annual Parade and Italian Festival is on the way to becoming the best yet,” he continued.
The Parade Committee consists of Band Chair Phyllis Shindle; Groups and Organization Co-Chair Isa Appignani; Antique Car Chair Luigi Luongo and Float Chair Hank Shindle. Many of the favorites from year’s past will be on hand, plus new organizations and groups that are appearing for the first time.
Traveling this year from Italy is the “Gruppo Folklorico” from Citta di Castrovillari in the Province of Cosenza, who will be performing traditional dances and songs from the Region of Calabria.
