Northern NJ Labor Day Weekend Events

BOONTON

Fireman’s Carnival & Parade – Thursday, August 29 – Sunday, September 1 at Boonton High School, 306 Lathrop Ave. This annual event features live entertainment each night, carnival rides, a parade on Saturday and the grand finale fireworks on Sunday at 10:00 pm.

SCOTCH PLAINS

Annual St. Bartholomew/UNICO Italian Festival from Friday, August 30 to Monday, September 2 at St. Bartholomew Church, 2032 Westfield Ave. The festival honors San Nicola di Bari, the patron saint of Montazzoli, Italy. This family feast features nightly live music, rides, games and food favorites. A procession will be held following the 5:00 pm Saturday Mass, which is celebrated in Italian. LODI

The Feast of Saint Joseph – Viva San Giuseppe – Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2, at Saint Joseph Church, 40 Spring Street. This family event features traditional Italian foods, rides for all ages, evening entertainment and games of chance. The highlight of the Feast is on Labor Day at 2:00 pm where there is a Solemn Mass followed by a procession honoring Saint Joseph.

CLIFTON

Clifton Food Truck and Music Festival on September 1, from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm at the Clifton City Hall Complex, 900 Clifton Avenue. Admission is $5, with kids under 10 free. This family event features a variety of delicious food trucks, a beer garden, great live entertainment, vendors, art show and sale and a children’s craft station. Bring blankets and chairs. Pop up tents permitted.

HALEDON

American Labor Museum Parade on Sunday, September 1 at 12:30 pm, beginning from 83 Norwood Street. The Annual Labor Day Parade will begin and end at the Botto House. The museum store will be open to the public before the parade begins. For more information, call 973-595-7953.

MENDHAM

Annual Mendham Borough Labor Day Parade & Carnival on Monday, September 2. The parade begins at 10:00 am (rain or shine) and runs along East Main Street and Mountain Ave, with a viewing stand at the Gazebo. RIVERDALE

Riverdale Labor Day Street Fair on Monday, September 2, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, located at 91 Newark Pompton Tpk (off Route 23). This fun filled family street fair features live entertainment, festival foods, local merchants and restaurants displaying their specialties and a variety of family activities. Over 100 exhibitors, kiddie rides and climbing wall, a special section with craft exhibitors, games, face painters, activities and delicious food. For more information, call 201-998-1144.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD

Annual South Plainfield Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 2. The parade starts at the Police Athletic League [PAL] Recreation Center on Maple Avenue at 10:00 am and is one of the oldest and biggest parades in the state. It features bagpipers, clowns, local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, floats and marching bands.

RUTHERFORD

44th Annual Rutherford Labor Day Street Fair on Monday, September 2, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, at Park Avenue, from Ames Avenue to Highland Avenue. The Rutherford Labor Day Street Fair is the largest and longest running street fair in New Jersey and is also known as the Rutherford Antiques Festival, with antiques, live entertainment, rides, children’s entertainment, crafts, specialty items, food and a beer garden. MANASQUAN

The Manasquan Labor Day Concert takes place on Saturday, August 31 at 5:30 pm (rain date September 1) on the Main Beach, located at Main Street and 1st Avenue. This family event features a concert with Retro Kings.

SPRING LAKE

Spring Lake Labor Day end of Summer Celebration & Art Walk, Saturday, August 31, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, in Downtown Spring Lake, at Third Ave. Stroll along the charming Spring Lake village 3rd Avenue business district while enjoying and admiring local artists work. BRADLEY BEACH

Bradley Beach Lobster fest on August 31 & September 1 (Saturday 11 am – 8 pm; Sunday 11 am – 6 pm) at 500 Ocean Avenue. Bradley Beach comes alive with its popular oceanfront family event highlighted by 6 bands and a DJ emcee, over 180 craft and specialty vendors, a beer & wine garden and children’s activities including water slide, rides, face painters and sand art.

OCEANPORT

Monmouth Park Racetrack Labor Day Weekend BBQ & Craft Beer Festival on August 31, September 1, 2, from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. The Annual Labor Day Weekend Festival is filled with horse races, beer tasting, barbecued food and a beer garden.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS

Monday Concert Series – Joey Arminio & The Family on Monday, September 2, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Franklin Avenue Stage. Enjoy all your favorite Doo Wop memories featuring great music from the 50’s and 60’s.

Southern NJ Labor Day Weekend Events

RIO GRANDE

Airfest 2019 – from August 30 through September 2, at the NASW Aviation Museum, located at 500 Forrestal Road, Cape May Airport. WILDWOOD

Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, August 30 at 10:00 pm (rain/wind date Sunday night at 10:00 pm) on the beach at Pine Avenue. The fireworks are visible from almost anywhere on the Wildwoods Boardwalk.

The Annual Wildwood Block Party and Music Festival takes place on Sunday, September 1, from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm at Fox Park (across from the Wildwoods Convention Center on Ocean Avenue between Burk and Montgomery Avenues). WEST CAPE MAY

West Cape May Tomato Festival on Saturday, August 31 (rain date: September 1st) at Wilbraham Park. This free family event celebrates the world famous Jersey Tomato, sample foods ranging from tomato pies to empanadas.
