Musical Play at Montreal’s Italian Week

This year, Montreal’s Italian Week will start off on Friday, August 9, launching its program of events with the musical play “La Dolce Vita en Exil” at the Casa d’Italia, located at the Hall of Celebration – 505 rue Jean-Talon Est in Montreal, Canada.

Presented and written by Italian Montrealer Tina Mancini, this musical play premiered in France. Set in the mid-1950s, “La Dolce Vita en Exil” is a musical celebrating the Italian immigrant’s journey to Canada. It features popular lyrical arias in Italian and Neapolitan dialect, while telling a woman’s universal story of adventure, tradition, love and nostalgia.

The play will be presented both on Friday, August 9 at 8:00 pm and on Sunday, August 11 at 3:00 pm. It has a running time of one hour. In addition to songs in Italian and Neapolitan dialect, other parts of the play are in English and French. Tickets are $20.

Montreal’s Italian Week is a cultural festival unfolding throughout the city and celebrating the beauty and diversity of Italy. This celebration offers to more than half a million festival-goers, a wide array of shows and activities featuring art, music, gastronomy, fashion and Italian folklore. The events will take place from August 9 through 18.
