CAMPANIA – In the Caserta area a typical dolce is the Sweet Casatiello – a small domed shaped cake with orange blossom and lemon flavors.
LOMBARDIA – Charlotte alla Milanese consists of sliced apples with cloves, cooked in white wine, sugar and lemon peel, to which raisins and candied fruits are added. This serves as the filling for a sponge cake which can be eaten hot or cold.
