Genealogical Group Collect Memories of Our Italian Immigrant Relatives

The Italian Genealogical Group (www.italiangen.org) Special Projects Coordinator is initiating a drive to collect personal family ancestry stories. The project will be under the supervision of Mario Toglia assisted by Michael Genovese and Marilyn Verna.

Why is it important to write your family history? Think about the legacy you will be leaving if you write and publish your own family research. It will not only be a legacy for current and future family members, but for all researchers.  The Italian Genealogical Group encourages you to begin simply by writing about one ancestor who is rooted in the migration of your family from Italy to America. The final collection will be available as a permanent archival hardcopy and resource in the IGG Library, as well as a hard copy of the entire collection for purchase.

Please include the following: 250-500 words single spaced; the town in Italy of your ancestor; parents’ names with maiden name; children’s names; date of arrival into the United States (if known); your name and contact information.

Please submit your story to one of the following: Marilyn Verna at [email protected]; Mario Toglia at greispark544@yahoo or Mike Genovese at [email protected].
