Owner Matthew Tyahla came from humble restaurant beginnings. He began in the food industry as a busboy in a local Italian restaurant at the age of 14. Diligently working his way through high school and college, Matthew spent a decade at various restaurants and with each job came the opportunity to learn more and more about the industry until he knew it both inside and out. After graduating from college, he was ready to immerse himself as an entrepreneur, but it wasn’t until he was 26 that he had saved enough to purchase his first restaurant – Café d’Amici on Bloomfield Avenue, in Clifton, an establishment he had worked at as a teenager. As the sole owner, Matthew was responsible for every aspect of the business, but the risk paid off. Through hard work, the restaurant’s cuisine and service allowed it to stand the test of time.
