MARION’S BACKYARD

INTRO

I enjoy inviting friends over for a quiet Sunday afternoon get together after a game of golf or to play bocce. I serve Italian cocktails like a Negroni or an Aperol Spritz. (See my cocktail Recipes in next week’s issue).

The zucchini flowers are now plentiful and combine with pasta to make a savory dish with a glass of great wine.

I have included pictures here of dishes that make a casual presentation. You can bring my creations together to add a polished appeal to your social gatherings.

Below I give you some entertaining ideas to set a lovely table, but use your own creative ideas and watch how your party becomes both memorable and delicious.

SET IN A BOX

Say No to Bugs

(Use art)

Shoo bugs away from the dinner table by putting a large bowl of herbs which will repel insects. Use lavender and mint plants.

IN BOX

If you have a Fire Pit, throw in a bunch of sage so the bugs will fly away!

HEAD

ADD A SALAD

Try to always add a salad to the entrée course. Select from various Italian greens like raw escarole, Tuscan kale, baby arugula or mix all together with Jersey tomatoes, white onions, a Balsamic glaze and EVOO.

HEAD – Taralli for Napkin Rings

I often use a taralle for a napkin ring. My guests love it because after they take the napkin out of it, they eat it! I love it because it’s one less thing to clean later on!! LOL #Buy a Bag Full. # Very Italian.
