Local Composer Wins Award

Salone del Astor, a new concerto for flute by composer Louis Anthony deLise, has won the National Flute Association’s “Newly Published Music Competition” for 2019. This win comes as deLise prepares to release his first ambient album as a featured artist.

Natural Light, a new album of new age and neo-classical compositions by deLise, will be released on July 1st. A prolific and versatile composer, deLise, originally from Philadelphia, has written for television and radio, arranged and conducted on hit records and written concert music for choirs, orchestras and soloists.

Natural Light features solo performances by deLise playing piano and an array of pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments. Other featured players on the album include Grammy-winner Nancy Rumbel and trumpeter Jeff Oster.

The diverse career of composer deLise includes work as arranger and conductor in numerous musical genres. He is already working on a new album while preparing a revision of his textbook on songwriting, “The Contemporary Minstrel.” He is also publishing a new flute and harp duo composition each month during 2019 for “The Miniatures Project,” a joint venture of Bocage Music Publishing, LLC, Alry Publications and the Flute Pro Shop of Wilmington, Delaware.
