Montclair, New Jersey, will be celebrating Italian Heritage Sister City Day on Saturday, October 5 at the Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Street, starting at 10am. The event will celebrate Italian heritage and culture and the unique bond that exists between Montclair and its sister city, Aquilonia, Italy. The event is perfect for all ages. Presented by D’Italia Programs and the Montclair Public Library, the all-day celebration will feature workshops, performances, crafts and food trucks.
In January, 2017, Aquilonia, a town in the province of Avellino, Campania in southern Italy, became a Sister City to Montclair. Township resident Raffaele Marzullo, who is originally from Aquilonia, spearheaded the Sister City effort with fellow parishioners from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
