Famous Italian Folkloric Groups Join Columbus Day in Brick

Mayor John G. Ducey of Brick NJ, Brick UNICO and the Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee have announced a collaboration to commemorate Columbus Day and Italian Heritage by hosting an Italian Flag Raising at the Brick Municipal Building. This year’s expanded program will feature two international folkloric groups from Italy. Citta’ di Tropea and La Teglia will be performing on Friday, October 6th beginning at 10:30 am. The Brick Township Municipal Complex is located at 401 Chambers Bridge Road in Brick, NJ.

At the conclusion of the flag raising ceremony, each group will be giving a short performance “Citta’ di Tropea” from the city of Tropea and “La Teglia” from the town of San Polo Matese will also be part of the 26th Annual Ocean County Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival which will take place in Seaside Heights during the weekend of October 6th through the 8th. Each of these Folkloric Groups consists of approximately 25 members, divided between singers, dancers and musicians. All are very experienced in folklore and are brought together by the same love and interest for their culture. The groups wear traditional costumes from their region of Italy. Each group has marched in numerous parades in Italy and Europe and performed in many shows on Italian TV and special events around the world.
