International Columbia Association in Calabria

The International Columbia Association recently held an event marking the International Award of Goodness in Reggio, Calabria, Italy. More than 800 people and illustrious guests attended the ceremony organized by the Committee of the Cross and held at the Church of Santa Maria of Candelora. It was dedicated to magistrates, police forces and victims of crime and terrorism, who lost their lives while fighting for the values of legality and justice.

The event was an extraordinary success. A medal, conferred by the Head of State with an accompanying letter to the Committee of the Cross, was presented by the organization’s president, Fiorenzo Tommasi to the City of Reggio and accepted by Mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà.

Cav. Vincent Tummino, now residing in Florida, who was a rescue worker in lower Manhattan on 9/11 and is President of the International Columbia Association of Firefighters, presented an award to Monsignor Santo Marcianò, recently appointed Ordinary Military Archbishop for Italy. Dr. Pasquale Spinelli, whose specialties include surgery, oncology and urology, received the International Award Bontà.

The President of the Committee of the Cross, Tommaso Fiorenzi, emphasized the role of the General of the Guardia di Finanza, Emilio Errigo, in organizing the event. General Errigo was assisted by Dr. Cinzia Panuccio, Ambassador of the Committee of the Cross and Dr. Domenico Napoli, Director of CEFRIS, engaged in the development of training programs and social innovation.
