Father Edward Cassar, of Our Lady of Grace Church in Brooklyn, New York, recently celebrated his 50th anniversary of entering the priesthood.
Born in Malta, Father Cassar was initially a Franciscan priest who brought the word of God to Ethiopia. After coming to America, he served in eight parishes in Queens and Brooklyn. Parishioners came from far and wide to honor the Priest who performed their wedding services, baptized their children, stood by them in their time of personal affliction and ultimately gave their loved ones their final sacrament. His acts of selflessness and kindness will forever be beacons of light in the hearts of the many thousands of parishioners to whom he ministered over the past half century.
