The Essex Photo Club Plans for a Busy 2018 in February Meetings

What are texture overlays in photography and how does one use them to add interest to an image? This is the question that Nath Kaplan of Cedar Grove will address at Essex Photo Club’s February 1st meeting, 7:30 pm, at Caldwell United Methodist Church, 8 Academy Road, Caldwell.

Kaplan, a long-standing member of Essex Photo Club, will demonstrate his technique and show examples from his work, while taking questions from the audience throughout the evening. The process adds creativity and depth to images.

At a second regularly scheduled meeting of the club on February 15, Nick Palmieri, an award-winning photographer, as well as a lecturer and judge for the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs, will judge digital images in the categories of pictorial and nature by both beginning and advanced photographers. Palmieri photographs a variety of subjects and has a strong affinity for nature photography. His critiques will demonstrate his perspective of what constitutes excellence in photographic images.

Finally, on February 22, Essex Photo Club will sponsor the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs’ Winter Print Competition at a special meeting. Each year the Federation conducts six fall and winter competitions. All meetings are free and open to the public and begin at 7:30 pm.
