Dr. Guarino Picked as Top Pharmaceutical Executive of the Year

Richard A. Guarino, MD, KM, President of Oxford Pharmaceutical Resources Inc. and Vice President of Medical Affairs for Validus Pharmaceuticals, was selected as Top Pharmaceutical Executive of the Year for 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the industry.

With over four decades of professional experience as an executive in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Guarino has proven himself as an expert in the field of new drug approval process and has demonstrated success not only as the President of Oxford Pharmaceutical Resources Inc. and Vice President of Medical Affairs for Validus Pharmaceuticals, but also in his prior roles. He has served as Director of Clinical Research for Sandoz Inc.; Vice President and Medical Director for Revlon Health Care; President and CEO for Oxford Research International Corp and Clinical and Regulatory Consultant for Amneal Pharmaceuticals.

Throughout his career, Dr. Guarino has received many awards and has served on many boards including the Board of Trustees, Family & Children’s Services of North Essex; Board of Trustees for Columbus Hospital; Board of Trustees for New Community Foundation; Geriatric Neuropsychopharmacology Subcommittee, U.S. Food and Drug Administration; Board of Directors for East Orange General Hospital; Board of Directors for NorCrown Bank and Board of Directors and President of the Ambassador South Development Corporation. He also has been on the Board of Directors for the Republican Committee; Board of Trustees for Bloomfield College; member of the President’s Advisory Committee for Fairleigh Dickinson University; Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of New Community Foundation; Board of Trustees for Lacordaire Academy and Chairman for Columbus Hospital Foundation.

Aside from his successful career, Dr. Guarino is a renowned lecturer on Good Clinical Practices and ICH Global Regulations and was an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Guarino received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Master of Science degree from New York University and his Medical Degree from the University of Siena, Italy.

When not working, he enjoys returning to Italy where he has many friends and colleagues and spending time with his family.
