Committee Holds 6th Annual Dinner in Honor of Bishop Catanello

Bishop Ignatius Catanello of the Brooklyn Diocese was a beloved priest for over 45 years. Known as Father (and later Bishop) Iggy, he worked in St. Rita, St. Helen, St. Ann and Our Lady of Angels parishes and for many years was the Rector of Cathedral Prep and Seminary High School in Elmhurst Queens.

Bishop Iggy has been memorialized with a scholarship in his name for tuition assistance for those students in need at Cathedral Prep. The Bishop Catanello Captains Committee is holding its Sixth Annual Memorial Mass and Scholarship Dinner on Saturday, March 30th at 6:00 pm.

The following individuals will be honored at the dinner: Humanitarian of the Year, Angelo A. DiGangi; Thomas More Award, Thomas J. Principe; Businessman of the Year, Salvatore Ceravolo; Man of the Year, NYPD PBA President Patrick V. Lynch; Lifetime Achievement, Father Jim Sweeney of Cathedral Prep; Lifetime Achievement, New York City, Peter Oppedisano of DiSano Industries and Educator of the Year, Richie Diaz. Judge Greg Lasak will be the keynote speaker at the event.
