Garfield Celebrates “La Festa Italiana” in Honor of Italian Heritage

Our Lady of Mount Virgin Catholic Church is honoring its Italian heritage with their Annual “La Festa Italiana” at 188 MacArthur Ave, Garfield, New Jersey. This traditional Italian street fair runs nightly from Thursday, August 16th through Sunday, August 19th. On hand will be a variety of unparalleled selection of foods, along with an Italian Café with homemade cakes and other desserts. There will be games, rides, raffles, plus live bands and DJ music throughout. Thursday night will feature The Feastie Boys, while Fillet of Soul performs on Friday evening. Saturday is Italian Night with Party of Five Doo Wop. The entertainment continues on Sunday with Anthony Ligouri as Elvis.

Liturgical and spiritual celebrations in honor of Our Lady of Mount Virgin include a Mass followed by private devotion on Thursday, August 16th at 7:00 pm; Friday, August 17th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, August 18th at 5:00 pm. A Solemn Mass in Italian and English will be offered at 11:30 am on Sunday, August 19th in honor of Our Lady of Mount Virgin, followed by a grand procession through the streets of Garfield and Lodi at 1:00 pm.

The hours of the feast are 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm on Thursday and Friday; 4:00 pm ‘til 11:00 pm on Saturday and 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday. A free shuttle for off-site parking will be available. For more information or directions contact Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church Rectory at 973-772-2295.
