The Italian American Civic League of Broward County recently celebrated its 70th anniversary with a sold-out dinner dance and gala at the club’s headquarters in Hollywood, Florida. The club was established in 1949 by a group of twelve Italian immigrants who longed for a place where they could congregate and promote Italian heritage, language, culture and traditions. During the event, President Paula Guerrieri (the club’s first woman president) and Vice President Rocco Maniaci were presented with proclamation plaques from Broward County Commissioner Beam Furr and City of Hollywood Councilwoman Linda Sherwood, designating October 19th as Italian American Civic League Day in Broward County. The club also received a congratulatory letter from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
