128th Annual Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Newark

The historic and beloved Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the Ironbound section of Newark begins today, July 12th. This marks the 128th Feast for this four-day event. The street festival features food, entertainment and devotion and promises to be a memorable and fun time for the entire family. Enjoy the traditional Italian treats of zeppole, homemade Italian cookies, torrone and more, as well as specialties such as calms, sausage and peppers, plus wine and beer. There will be rides and games, novelties and a Super 50/50 raffle. Friday is Reunion Night with friends, old and new, who graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Grammar School.

Entertaining the crowds will be Eddie Boa and DJ Al, plus DJ’s Unlimited on Thursday, July 12th. Friday brings Chailo for your listening pleasure. Saturday features the Toga Party Band, with John Christian Entertainment closing the festival on Sunday, July 15th.

Hours of the Feast are 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Thursday, July 12 and Friday 13; Saturday and Sunday, hours are 3:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

Make sure to join the celebration on Sunday, July 15th for the Grand Procession with the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, following the 5:00 pm Solemn High Mass. Additionally, there will be a candlelight procession around Independence Park with the statue of Our Lady, following the 7:00 pm Solemn High Mass. Novenas will take place each evening during weekdays at 7:00 pm and on Friday, July 13th, there will be a Healing Mass celebrated by Bishop Nicholas Di Marzio, Bishop of Brooklyn.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is located at 259 Oliver Street in the “Down Neck” Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey.
