New Fast Train from Rome to Venice

trainA trip from Rome to Venice has gotten easier now that some of the country’s high-speed trains start traveling directly to the capital’s main airport.

The move is potentially the first step in a plan to fully integrate the Fiumicino airport west of Rome into the country’s extensive rail network and eliminate the need for travelers from other parts of Italy to change trains in the city center. Now two trains a day will leave for Venice and two will arrive from the floating city, in what will be a 4 hour, 12 minute trip.

The frecciaargento trains leaving the airport will also serve central Rome, Florence (2 hours, 14 minutes), Bologna (2 hours 59 minutes) and Padua (3 hours 57 minutes).
