LED Lights

071615-cronaca-4Three Italian towns are benefitting from energy savings of up to 80% after the installation of LED lights in over 7,000 streetlamps.

Global electronics giant Philips announced that it has implemented its CityTouch system in Città Sant’Angelo in Abruzzo, Cison di Valmarino in Treviso and Varmo in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, retrofitting Italy’s picturesque classical fixtures as part of its global LED lighting push.

The company said the system allows for better illumination and safer streets, while retaining the allure of the historical architecture and cutting the towns’ carbon footprints. It estimates that the new lighting system could save the towns hundreds of thousands of euro in energy costs due to the increased efficiency of the fixtures, while also reducing light pollution.
